Our School Age Care Program Managers recently participated in professional development to help them embed aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures into their services and educational programs.
The training, by Cyndy Newman, Director of Indigenous Perspectives and Cultural Knowledge at CIT, supported our program managers to further develop a holistic understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural protocols. They gained hands-on knowledge about how to meaningfully educate children on the significance of these cultures, and the traditional owners of the land.
As part of YWCA Canberra’s commitment to reconciliation, we ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories are embedded across our children’s services.
