At YWCA Canberra, we care deeply about our community, and the many people who make our community diverse and unique. This year for Harmony Week, our Children’s Services participated in a range of fun activities and events to help celebrate all things that make each and every one of us different.
Following the theme, ‘Everyone Belongs’, our services held a range of crafting activities where the children were encouraged to create paper people and learn about different countries and cultures. On top of celebrating the different cultures, the children were also encouraged to make collages and artworks inspired by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artworks, to acknowledge the Indigenous custodiams of the land.
We know that by embracing different cultures, can better help children understand the values of inclusivity, respect, and a sense of belonging.
