Our families at Spence Cottage have told us that many have visited the snow this winter, allowing them to explore snowboarding and skiing.
To extend learning from the home to the Cottage, we have been learning about a snowflake’s life cycle and the mechanisms behind skiing and snowboarding. The children loved talking about snow and engaging in sensory play with fake snow. We even experimented with ice cube hand painting!
Alongside this, the children also learned all about animals living in Antarctica. Most can now name animals that live in the snow! These activities have helped to promote their general knowledge and literacy skills.
